Città intelligenti? Si grazie… Per ridurre traffico e inquinamento, per creare un futuro davvero sostenibile: sembra essere ormai questo l’obiettivo della ricerca piu’ avanzata, e Parma sta facendo la sua parte.
Da lunedì 16 a venerdì 20 settembre è infatti in programma a Lerici (La Spezia) la Scuola di Dottorato 2013 Internet of Things e Smart Cities, un corso di perfezionamento su queste tecnologie emergenti e sui loro scenari applicativi organizzato da Wireless Ad hoc Sensor Network Laboratory (WASN Lab, e dunque da Simone Cirani, Marco Picone, Pietro Gonizzi e Gianluigi Ferrari, tutti ingegneri, prof. e PhD WASN Lab) e dal Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione dell’Università degli Studi di Parma.
Una scuola rivolta a studenti di dottorato del mondo ICT provenienti da tutta Europa (oltre 30 gli iscritti), ma anche a ricercatori e rappresentanti di aziende nazionali/internazionali. Tra gli obiettivi, non solo fornire un’esauriente panoramica sulle tecnologie applicate alle Smart Cities e alle IoT (quell’ Internet of Things o Internet delle Cose: oggetti tecnologicamente attivi, e dunque partecipi dell’idea di città intelligenti) ma anche interagire con il mondo industriale.
Come dire: ecco il futuro, vogliamo metterlo in pratica?
Per questo è prevista la partecipazione di speaker provenienti da Università e aziende leader del settore come Cisco, AT&T, Selex-ES, Thales, Guglielmo s.r.l, Worldsensing.

The aim of Ph.D. School is to address young researchers to the forefront of research activity on Smart Cities & Internet of Things, by presenting state-of-the-art research together with the current and future challenges in building smart cities in an efficient and sustainable way, in order to provide a thorough overview of the main topics about Smart Cities and IoT and their envisioned integration. International speakers from academia and industry will give lectures tailoring their research field for an interdisciplinary audience. A dedicated discussion panel will focus on the interaction and the collaboration between academia and industry in order to depict the future vision of Smart Cities and IoT. Participants will also have the opportunity to present their research activities during a dedicated session. The school will allow participants to be exposed to cutting edge results in one of the most challenging research area, while at the same time enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of one of the most beautiful italian locations.
